Embark on an unforgettable journey through the Bolivian highlands with this Salar de Uyuni: 3 Days, 2 Nights tour. This experience combines unique landscapes, colorful deserts, and high-altitude lagoons with active volcanoes and natural formations that seem to belong to another planet.
Furthermore, during the three-day trip, you will explore world-class destinations such as the Red Lagoon (Laguna Colorada), the Siloli Desert, and the majestic Licancabur Volcano. Located at 3,650 meters above sea level, this journey is designed for adventure lovers seeking total immersion in one of the most remote places in South America.
Itinerary
Day 1 – The Infinite White Desert and Sunset Magic
The adventure begins by exploring the famous Train Cemetery, where antique locomotives rest in the middle of the highlands. Subsequently, we head to the community of Colchani to learn about the artisanal process of salt extraction and visit local handicraft shops.
Upon entering the Salar, you will witness a vast white landscape that includes the Dakar Monument and the Plaza de las Banderas. Finally, after a traditional lunch in the middle of the salt flat, we will enjoy a spectacular sunset before checking into an authentic hotel built entirely from salt blocks.
Day 2 – Altiplano Lagoons and Andean Flamingos
After breakfast, we set off toward the Chiguana Salt Flat. In addition to the panoramic views of the active Ollagüe Volcano, we will visit the beautiful Cañapa, Hedionda, and Honda lagoons. These lagoons are famous for being the natural habitat of pink flamingos and diverse high-Andean birds.
Later on, we continue to the Siloli Desert to witness the “Stone Tree,” a unique rock formation sculpted by wind erosion. The day concludes at the stunning Laguna Colorada, where reddish waters create a breathtaking contrast. We will spend the night in a rustic community lodge under a clear, starry sky.
Day 3 – Geysers, Hot Springs, and Natural Mirages
Very early in the morning, we visit the Sol de Mañana Geysers, an active geothermal field with boiling mud pools. Shortly after, you can relax in the Polques hot springs while enjoying the sunrise over the Altiplano.
Subsequently, we cross the surreal Dalí Desert to reach the Green and White Lagoons at the foot of Licancabur Volcano. The return journey to Uyuni includes stops at the Valley of Rocks and the colonial town of San Cristóbal, arriving back at approximately 6:00 p.m.
