Recommendations
Tour Recommendations
Bring very warm clothing: Temperatures in the Bolivian highlands can drop dramatically, especially between May and August, when nighttime temperatures can fall several degrees below freezing. It is recommended to dress in layers and bring gloves, a hat, a scarf, and a thermal or windproof jacket.
Wear comfortable and waterproof footwear: The salt flat terrain can be wet or slippery, especially during the rainy season (December to March). Bring shoes or boots with good traction for safe walking.
If traveling during the rainy season, bring waterproof clothing and a change of clothes: During these months, the salt flats transform into a natural mirror, and it is common to get wet while walking across the surface. Bring a poncho or waterproof jacket, as well as dry clothes to change into after the tour.
Do not forget your camera or phone with good night photography capabilities: The Uyuni Salt Flats are a perfect setting for both daytime and nighttime photography. On clear nights, the sky fills with stars, making it ideal for capturing spectacular astrophotography images.
Bring a flashlight or headlamp: If you participate in the astronomy experience or finish the tour at night, a flashlight is very useful for moving safely in low-light areas.
Not recommended for people with mobility difficulties or those highly sensitive to cold: Due to the extreme altitude, weather conditions, and uneven terrain, this tour requires a certain level of physical endurance and tolerance to low temperatures.
Bring light snacks and a bottle of water: Although the tour includes meals, the journeys can be long and the dry climate may cause dehydration. It is recommended to bring energy bars, fruit, nuts, and a reusable water bottle.
Protect the environment: Do not leave trash, damage natural formations, or extract salt. The salt flats are a fragile ecosystem, and their preservation depends on the care of every visitor.
