🐒🌿 Monkey Island & Kayak Adventure and Zip-lining
DESCRIPCION
Embark on an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon with a full-day tour that combines jungle landscapes, adrenaline, and authentic wildlife encounters. The experience begins with a peaceful kayak journey along the Madre de Dios River, where the sounds of the rainforest accompany your navigation. With a bit of luck and a keen eye, you may spot turtles sunbathing, brightly colored tropical birds, and occasionally, capybaras peeking through the riverside vegetation.
The excitement levels up as you reach the canopy circuit: equipped with a harness and under professional supervision, you will glide on a zip-line over the treetops, enjoying a privileged view of the Amazonian canopy. It is the perfect moment to feel the immensity of the jungle from a different perspective and capture spectacular photographs.
After the activity, we recharge our energy with a typical Amazonian lunch, ideal for recovering strength and continuing our exploration. In the afternoon, we visit the iconic Monkey Island, a natural sanctuary where various species live in a safe and controlled environment. Here, you can closely observe their behavior, their leaps between branches, and their characteristic curiosity, always respecting their space and following the guide’s recommendations for a responsible visit.
ITINERARIO
Itinerary
🏞️ Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Kayaking on the Madre de Dios River – Monkey Island
Gathering and departure to the pier (8:30 – 9:00 a.m.)
We meet at the Main Square (Plaza de Armas), where the guide will provide a welcome and a brief introduction to the experience. We then transfer to the Madre de Dios River pier. Before starting, we conduct a safety briefing, deliver the equipment (life jacket, paddle), and explain the Amazonian ecosystem and the best practices for responsible tourism in Tambopata.
Kayak adventure on the Madre de Dios River
The journey begins by paddling through the calm waters of the Madre de Dios, a perfect setting to feel the jungle up close. As we advance, you can observe the riverside vegetation, listen to the sounds of the forest, and spot wildlife such as herons, cormorants, other tropical birds, and, with luck, a capybara along the shore. This part of the tour combines serenity and excitement, ideal for photos and real connection with the Amazon.
Short hike to the Amazonian suspension bridge
We arrive at an adventure center in the heart of the Tambopata jungle. We take a short hike through natural trails to the suspension bridge, hanging over the forest. Crossing it is an unforgettable experience: you will feel the adrenaline while enjoying a panoramic view of the Amazonian canopy—a perfect natural viewpoint to appreciate the vastness of the jungle.
Zip-lining over the jungle
After the bridge comes one of the most intense moments of the day: zip-lining over the tropical forest. With certified equipment and professional guides, you will glide over the treetops, feeling the breeze and contemplating a landscape that seems infinite. Safety, adrenaline, and a memory that lasts.
Navigation toward Monkey Island
We resume the river journey toward Monkey Island while the guide shares stories about the local fauna and conservation work in the area. This stretch is ideal for continued bird watching and understanding why this region is one of the most biodiverse in South America.
Guided visit to Monkey Island
We enter the sanctuary for an interpretive walk along its trails. Here you can observe primates in a protected and semi-wild environment, such as spider monkeys, capuchins, squirrel monkeys, and friar monkeys, with explanations about their rescue, adaptation, and the importance of fighting illegal wildlife trafficking.
An educational and moving visit focused on animal respect and conservation.
Optional river swim
If river conditions allow and with the guide’s instructions, you can enjoy a refreshing swim in a safe area of the Madre de Dios: a perfect moment to relax and close the most intense part of the adventure.
Amazonian lunch at a local restaurant
Returning to the city, we enjoy a regional lunch with local ingredients. You can try iconic flavors such as fish wrapped in bijao leaves (Patarashca), Juane, or Tacacho with Cecina, accompanied by natural Amazonian fruit juices.
Return to Puerto Maldonado (Approx. 5:30 p.m.)
We end the day returning to the Main Square of Puerto Maldonado, with the Amazonian sunset as our backdrop and the feeling of having lived a full day of nature, adventure, and wildlife.
