Itinerary

Start of the Tour at Lima’s Main Square

We begin our tour at the emblematic Main Square of Lima, the heart of the Historic Center and a key setting in Peruvian colonial history. Together with our guide, you will learn about the main buildings surrounding the square, such as the Government Palace, Lima Cathedral, and the Municipal Palace, while discovering stories about the founding and evolution of the City of Kings.

Tour along Jirón de la Unión and Plazuela San Pedro

Then, we will walk along the traditional Jirón de la Unión, one of the most representative streets in central Lima. During the walk, we will admire balconies, republican mansions, and historic corners. In addition, we will visit Plazuela San Pedro and learn about the Church of San Pedro, known for its colonial architecture and Baroque-style interior.

San Francisco Convent and Catacombs

We will continue toward the Convent of San Francisco, one of Lima’s most recognized religious monuments. The visit includes its cloisters, galleries, historic library, and famous catacombs, ancient underground crypts that preserve an important part of the city’s viceregal heritage.

Colonial Viewpoint

Depending on availability, we will visit a colonial viewpoint to observe the Historic Center from above. It will be an excellent opportunity to appreciate domes, churches, and old rooftops, as well as take panoramic photographs.

Traditional Peruvian Lunch

After the cultural tour, we will enjoy lunch at a selected restaurant in Barranco or Miraflores, depending on availability. You can taste representative dishes of Peruvian cuisine, such as causa limeña, anticuchos, lomo saltado, ají de gallina, or pescado a lo macho, accompanied by a traditional drink. Vegetarian or vegan options can also be requested in advance.

Return to the Meeting Point or Hotel

Finally, we will board the transportation to return to the initial meeting point. For private services, a direct return to your accommodation within the established areas can be coordinated. This concludes an experience that brings together the history, architecture, and gastronomy of Lima.

Not Included

Hotel Pickup (Shared Service): Unless you have booked the private tour option, transportation from your accommodation to the meeting point in the Historic Center is not included. Therefore, you must make your own way to the coordinated starting point.

Drinks and Additional Consumption: Although the tour includes a complimentary traditional drink, any additional consumption, such as wines, beers, specialty juices, or dishes outside the established menu, must be paid for entirely by the traveler directly at the restaurant.

Accommodation and Overnight Stay: This program is exclusively a half-day or full-day service; consequently, it does not include accommodation expenses or hotel services before or after the tour.

Complete Sun Protection: Although we will visit the interiors of churches and convents, you will spend time outdoors under the Lima sun. Therefore, we recommend applying sunscreen, wearing UV-protection sunglasses, and bringing a hat or cap to avoid heat fatigue.

Where does the tour start and how do I get to the meeting point?
The starting point is Lima’s Main Square, specifically in front of the Cathedral. If you have booked the shared service, you must make your own way there. However, if you chose a private tour, we will coordinate direct pickup from your hotel for your convenience.

How long does the tour last in total?
The complete experience lasts approximately 4 to 5 hours. This time includes the guided walk through the center, the visit to the San Francisco Convent and Catacombs, access to the viewpoint, subject to availability, and the culinary experience at the restaurant.

Can I choose the dishes from the menu?
Of course! Lunch consists of three courses, and you will always have different options to choose from for your starter, main course, and dessert. You can also choose between a refreshing chicha morada or a classic Pisco Sour. If you have a special diet, we suggest informing us when making your reservation.

Is tipping mandatory?
No, under no circumstances is it mandatory. However, tips are a gesture of appreciation that is highly valued by the guide and restaurant staff if you consider their service to have been excellent.

Is this tour suitable for children?
Yes, it is a family-friendly activity suitable for all ages. We have children’s menu options and, although the tour is enjoyable, we recommend supervising children in areas such as the Catacombs because of the depth and stairs.

Is photography allowed during the tour?
Yes, you will be able to capture great moments at most locations. However, please keep in mind that in certain areas of the San Francisco Convent and Catacombs, flash photography and video recording are not allowed in order to preserve the heritage. Your guide will explain the restrictions in each room.

How far in advance should I book?
To guarantee your spot and restaurant availability, we recommend making your reservation 24 to 48 hours in advance. During the high season, July, August, and December, spaces tend to fill up quickly, so we suggest booking further in advance.

Does the tour operate if it rains?
Yes, the tour is not canceled due to mild weather conditions. Lima often has persistent drizzle during winter, so we recommend bringing a light raincoat. However, most of the main stops take place indoors and are protected from the weather.
